i've always been drawn to creative pursuits.
I'm a calligrapher and creative entrepreneur. I moved to NYC from the DC area to study photography and design at NYU. In my desk job life, I was a photo editor and photographer for digital editorial publications (including NYLON magazine, DailyCandy, and others), but I left that behind to doodle with pretty pens all day. I grew up fascinated by art, letters, and language (I taught myself cursive when I was 6, and copied hieroglyphics and brush lettering on trips to Egypt and China). I’ve studied traditional calligraphic methods for many years, but I began exploring and refining my own minimal, sophisticated, and modern calligraphy style as an antidote to all the time spent on a computer at my photo editing job.
Since leaving my desk job in January 2016, I work full time on calligraphy and lettering projects, writing on an enormous variety of unique surfaces, plan and teach regular modern calligraphy workshops, execute live lettering events for private, corporate, and commercial clients, and design a line of stationery and paper goods for those who appreciate little luxuries and a good pun.
My dog, Fidget, knows the way to every art and paper store in downtown Manhattan.
Things I do:
Calligraphy and Hand Lettering
Special Events and Private Parties
Public and Private Workshops
Painting and Illustration
I love fashion and style, dogs, wine, SoulCycle, good grammar, cooking and baking, coffee, snail mail, travel (I've been to 35 countries and counting!), and pretty pens (duh).
